guest designer

 Hello!

Today I have another special Guest Designer - Jenny Colacicco!

Thank you Jenny for creating this gorgeous card for the JD blog. I'm very grateful.

Hi everyone! Its Jenny here and I’m excited to be sharing a project I created today featuring Jane’s Doodles Hibiscus stamp set.  I couldn’t decided which elements to incorporate so I decided to stamp and color them all then arrange them!

I stamped each of the images onto hot press watercolor cardstock. I used Hero Arts Contour Ink which is great for no-line coloring.  I then colored each image with pan watercolors, using a wet on wet technique - filling each petal or leaf with clean clear water, then dropping the paint in and pulling it out. Once each first layer was dry,  I added a second, brighter layer, pulling it out a little less, and then finally a third ‘layer’ adding in contrast and detail. Be sure to choose petals that aren’t next to each other when using this technique, until they’re dry.  Hot press is smoother than cold press and therefore better for stamping on to keep the detail. I fussy cut out all of the images and set them aside.

For my my background, I ink blended some pale peachy coral ink from the bottom of a panel of white cardstock,  fading out toward the centre.   I also added a few splatters with black ink and rose gold metallic shimmer spray.  I then arranged my Hibiscus and leaves on the panel - the benefit of having all the pieces like this rather than stamped directly onto the panel is you can play with arrangements.  When I was happy with the arrangement, but before adhering,  I stamped the Aloha sentiment in black ink directly onto the panel then added my arrangement with foam squares.

I finished with a few pretty clear green and glitter sequins for some added sparkle then adhered onto a notecard.   I hope I’ve inspired you today - have a good day!

Jenny
